Molly + Gavin 8.16.14

This wedding has special significance to me; it was for my baby sister-in-law and her new husband. It was a really fun, casual, backyard event with a delicious taco bar, from-scratch rice & beans, yummy cucumber infused water, and lots of sweets. I made labels for just about everything :) My mother- and sister-in-law made all these adorable decorations.

The bride requested a naked cherry-almond wedding cake, so here it is! The mini cupcakes are pink champagne with vanilla buttercream. Toffee almond coconut bars complete the table. Enjoy!

Larissa + Scott 7.12.14

Their wedding was absolutely beautiful!! It was in a big barn with tons of white lights strung around the ceiling. The family of the bride did all of the decor and floral arrangements (from their own garden flowers), which were gorgeous! I think my dessert table turned out pretty good, too :)

The little two-tier wedding cake was made of chocolate tuxedo cake with raspberry puree filling, vanilla bean frosting, and marshmallow fondant. The cupcakes were chocolate with peanut butter frosting and salted caramel drizzle, and yellow cake with lemon curd filling and vanilla bean frosting. The strawberry shortcakes were made with homemade biscuits, real whipped heavy cream, and fresh sliced strawberries in a light glaze. I transported all of these desserts and all of the display equipment in my Honda Fit with room to spare! :)

Naked strawberry vanilla bean cake

…with beautiful fresh flowers done by Joanna & Taylor of Good Seed Floral Design. In fact, this cake was for Taylor's tea party bridal shower! These photos are so visually rich - the gorgeous texture of the peonies against the cake is incredible! Enjoy :)

Quenton & Mayela's blue & yellow heart-shaped wedding

I must confess…I was dreading making this heart-shaped wedding cake. I was afraid it would be incredibly difficult - I'm really accustomed to doing rounds. Turns out, making hearts is even easier! It's really obvious if the layers are off-set, so it was smooth-sailing right from the get-go. This is definitely the closest to perfection I've come in wedding cakes :) I hope to make many more sweet heart-shaped cakes in the future.

The bride & groom decided on all filled cupcakes: yellow butter cake filled with lemon curd, fresh raspberry puree, and blueberry puree. Chocolate cupcakes filled with raspberry puree, as well. Vanilla bean buttercream on all but the blueberry-filled, which got topped off with lemon buttercream. Yum!
